Class Visits to Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane
A visit to the Gallery is a very enjoyable way of introducing your class to works of art. The Gallery has an excellent collection of Irish and international artists from the mid 19th century to the present day and the collection includes both painting and sculpture.
A general tour will cover highlights of the Gallery's collection which ranges from Impressionist masterpieces by Monet, Degas and Manet to works by contemporary Irish and international artists. However, should you wish to look at particular works you can specify this on your tour booking form and your guide will be informed. Advance preparation in the classroom is very beneficial when planning your visit to the Gallery - and it adds to the fun of seeing works in reality and being surprised by their size, scale and colour! To avoid disappointment always check with the Education Curator to see what works are on display.
Tours cost €30, with a maximum 30 people per group. A minimum of two weeks notice is required when booking your tour. For an additional fee it is also possible to book a sketching tour, a tactile tour or a combined tour and workshop during your visit. These can be booked by prior arrangement with the Education Curator.
Should you wish to co-ordinate your Gallery visit with classroom work the Education Curator will be happy to discuss ideas or themes with you.
