Francis Bacon – Artificial Reality

Surprisingly literal connections between the print media Francis Bacon held in his studio and the details, figures and compositions in his paintings can be established. Isn’t that a contradiction for an artist who points out that ‘painting has nothing to do with illustration’? This lecture is trying to answer that question by following the image’s journey from its source onto Bacon’s canvas.
