Public Lecture: The Gallery as Subject: Institutional Critique and Contemporary Practices
Lecturer: Michelle Browne
The gallery and museum over the course of the last 200 years have changed considerably and their use and function have been brought into question. Join artist Michelle Browne as she discusses how the Gallery has become both context and subject for artworks. She will discuss artists such as Hans Haacke, Thomas Struth, Andrea Fraser and Tino Sehgal, artists whose practice hinge on institutional critique and a challenge to the conventions of the gallery.
This talk is free and open to the public. Early arrival is recommended as places are limited.
