Sir Hugh Lane: That Great Pictured Song (2017)

During his stellar and short lived career Hugh Lane influenced so many aspects of cultural life, not only in Ireland and Britain but also internationally. His story has been written several times, his life immortalised in Yeats's poetry and his ambitions embedded in Dublin's City Gallery which now bears his name. The essays in this new publication present significant new research on a fascinating period of Irish history which allows for a critical reflection and a greater understanding of an intriguing, unlikely but profoundly influential protagonist of cultural revolution in Ireland - Sir Hugh Lane. The contributors to this book of essays are: Roy Foster, Robert O'Byrne, Morna O'Neill, Jessica O'Donnell, Sinead Furlong Clancy, Lynda Mulvin, Carolyn Conroy and Jillian Carman.
